In a tragic turn of events, a Keke rider in Ikorodu, Lagos, took his own life outside the LASTMA office yesterday after days of pleading for the release of his seized vehicle. The Keke rider, whose tricycle was his sole means of livelihood, had been appealing to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to return his seized Keke.

Witnesses report that the rider had been visiting the LASTMA office repeatedly, explaining that without his vehicle, he was unable to support himself and his family. Despite his desperate pleas, the vehicle was not released.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the severe impact of vehicle seizures on the livelihoods of many in the transportation sector. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to this tragedy and review the policies surrounding vehicle seizures to prevent such incidents in the future.
