Delta Polytechnic Unveils Self-Sustaining Generator

The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, has affirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing technology for entrepreneurship and addressing societal issues. This commitment was highlighted during the presentation of a groundbreaking innovation—a self-sustaining, fuel-less electricity generating plant developed by the Polytechnic’s engineering team.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri explained that the 2.5KVA generator operates independently without requiring solar power, fossil fuels, or biofuels, and can run continuously without interruption. He emphasized the potential global market value of this innovative technology.

The Rector dedicated this achievement to Delta State Governor, Rt. Honourable Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, praising the supportive environment fostered for education and technological advancement. He announced plans to present the generator to the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and other relevant bodies for broader acceptance and mass production.

During the presentation, Engineer Collins Eniyemofe, Dean of the School of Engineering and project team leader, detailed how the generator uses advanced engineering mechanisms to produce energy continuously. He noted that this innovation aims to address the nation’s energy challenges.

Engineer Eniyemofe commended the Rector for initiating the project and acknowledged the dedication of the team in achieving this significant milestone. Recalling a promise made during the 2022 matriculation ceremony, the Rector reiterated his commitment to developing functional renewable energy sources through expert collaboration within the Polytechnic.
