Twenty medical students abducted in Benue State have been successfully rescued, according to security sources.

The rescue operation, which was confirmed on Friday, was coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The effort involved multiple security agencies, including the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel, with significant support from the Benue State government.

The students were kidnapped last Thursday while traveling along the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway en route to Enugu State for the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students.

Following the abduction, a special team from the Inspector General of Police arrived in Benue State on Monday and was immediately deployed to Otukpo to search for the students.

Further details are expected soon…
