The Super Eagles of Nigeria have retained their 39th spot in the latest FIFA World Rankings, released on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Despite a strong performance in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, the Nigerian team has remained in the same position globally.
In Africa, the Super Eagles rank sixth, trailing Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tunisia. Morocco leads the African pack, positioned 14th in the world, followed by Senegal at 21st and Egypt at 31st. Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia are ranked 33rd and 36th, respectively.
The Eagles, under interim coach Austin Eguavoen, delivered an impressive 3-0 victory against Benin Republic in Uyo and held Rwanda to a goalless draw in Kigali. However, these results did not affect their global standing.
At the top of the FIFA World Rankings, the top 10 remains unchanged. Argentina holds the number one spot, followed by France in second and Spain in third. England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy round out the top 10.
