In a recent statement, political commentator Reno Omokri has issued a stern warning to Nigerians advocating for a military coup against the current civilian government. Omokri, responding to a comment from a social media user, Kelechi, highlighted the tragic consequences of previous coups in Nigeria’s history.
Omokri recalled that during the first coup against a civilian government, approximately 3 million people lost their lives, many of whom had initially supported the overthrow. He further noted that the second military coup led to the collapse of Nigeria’s economy, stressing the devastating impact such actions have had on the country.
He warned that if another coup were to occur, the repercussions would likely be severe, with certain regions suffering more than others, as was the case in previous instances. Omokri concluded by urging Nigerians to think carefully about the implications of their calls, stating, “May God bless you with a good memory and a thinking brain to understand what you are asking for.”
