Residents of Imo State have raised concerns over the Federal Government’s and Governor Hope Uzodinma’s decision to utilize the National Open University campus in Nsu, Ehime Mbano, for a skills acquisition program targeting migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Critics argue that the move could serve as a “Trojan Horse” due to longstanding tensions between local communities and the Fulani people. Uchechi Okwu-Kanu questioned the decision, asking, “What happened to Kano? What is wrong with Abuja? And why not use abandoned factory sites near government-reserved centers along the Kaduna-Jos road from Nasarawa?”
In a more direct warning, Gaius Chibueze expressed his frustration on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “We will resist with everything we have to prevent IDPs from the North from being settled in the Southeast. Our ancestral land has already suffered enough at the hands of the Nigerian state and its internal agents.”
