The Edo State Government has formally written to Senator Monday Okpebholo, urging him to begin the formation of a transition team to facilitate collaboration with the outgoing administration. This step is aimed at ensuring a smooth transfer of power and continuity of governance.

In a letter dated October 10, 2024, the Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, emphasized the importance of establishing a transition team to initiate meaningful discussions and share crucial information. This effort will lay the groundwork for the seamless transfer of responsibilities between the current administration and Senator Okpebholo’s incoming team.

It will be recalled that in July 2024, Governor Godwin Obaseki inaugurated a 20-member transition committee led by Mr. Joseph Eboigbe. The committee was tasked with overseeing the orderly transfer of power and knowledge to the next government.

The letter from the Edo State Government read: “As we prepare for the transition of power, we believe it is essential to establish smooth and effective collaboration between your team and our current administration. We invite you and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to initiate the formation of your transition team at your earliest convenience.”

Eboigbe further explained that the collaboration between both teams would facilitate the sharing of vital information, helping ensure a successful transition. The inaugural meeting for both transition teams is proposed for October 14, 2024.

“We are committed to providing the necessary support and resources to make this transition as efficient as possible,” Eboigbe added. “Together, we can lay the foundation for an administration that meets the expectations of our constituents.”

The letter was received by Mr. Joy Oyere, an administrative secretary at the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
