Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects despite efforts by political opponents to undermine his government.
Speaking on Saturday, December 14, during the commissioning of a 14.1-kilometer road in Omuma Local Government Area, Fubara highlighted the challenges his administration has faced but expressed pride in its achievements. Although he did not name his opponents, the rift between him and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has led to divisions in the state, including within the House of Assembly.
Fubara emphasized that the newly commissioned road symbolizes his dedication to serving the people of Rivers State.
“I don’t want to overpraise this administration because governance is about serving the people, providing services, and protecting lives,” the governor stated, as quoted by Nelson Chukwudi, his Chief Press Secretary.
“If we don’t tell our stories, no one will. So, we have decided to showcase our achievements. When some believed we were being weakened, we were silently working. This road project is proof of our commitment to putting the interests of Rivers residents first.”
The 14.1-kilometer road stretches from Eberi in Omuma to the boundary with Abia State, making it a key inter-state link. Fubara noted the project’s significance in fostering connectivity and regional development.
“This project isn’t about me. I’m not funding it with personal resources but simply managing the state’s affairs,” he added.
At the event, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed lauded Fubara for his calm demeanor and focus on governance despite political distractions.
“Governor Fubara is a sincere, polite, and results-driven leader,” Mohammed said.
“I underestimated him at first, but seeing the work he has accomplished amid distractions is truly impressive.”
Promise Reginald, Chairman of Omuma LGA, also commended the project, describing it as a unifying development that has brought a sense of belonging to the people of the area.
The newly inaugurated road is expected to boost economic activities, improve transportation, and enhance regional integration between Rivers and Abia states.
