President Joe Biden has pledged federal aid to support victims of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County, announcing a one-time payment of $770 for affected individuals. The fires, among the worst in California’s history, have claimed 29 lives and displaced thousands.

Speaking on Monday, Biden emphasized the government’s commitment to immediate relief efforts, stating, “We are not waiting until the fires are over to help victims. We are helping them all right now.” He explained that the payment would assist survivors in covering essential needs like water, baby formula, and medications.

According to Biden, nearly 6,000 survivors have already registered for assistance, with $5.1 million in aid distributed so far. Additionally, the federal government will fully cover all fire-related and firefighting costs for the next 180 days.

Victims of the wildfires can apply for assistance by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-3362. Biden’s announcement highlights the administration’s ongoing efforts to provide relief as Los Angeles County continues to battle the catastrophic fires.
